What does Half-time/full-time mean in betting?

Also called: HT/FT, HTFT

Definition

A market where you predict the result at half-time and at full-time in one bet, for example "X/1": level at half-time, home win at full-time.

There are nine possible HT/FT outcomes: 1/1, 1/X, 1/2, X/1, X/X, X/2, 2/1, 2/X and 2/2. The first part is the half-time result (including first-half stoppage time) and the second is the full-time result after normal time. Extra time does not count.

Because you must be right twice, HT/FT odds are higher than a normal 1X2 bet on the same team. Outcomes where the lead changes hands, such as 2/1 (away team leading at half-time, home team winning at full-time), are rare and priced very high.

Things to keep in mind:

  • "1/1" (home leading at half-time and winning) is usually the shortest-priced option for a favourite.
  • Many matches are level at half-time, so "X/1", "X/X" and "X/2" are common results.
  • Higher odds come with lower chances; check the implied probability (100 ÷ odds) before staking.
